SUBMISSIONS FOR PARAMOURTAL NOW CLOSED.
Thank you to everyone who submitted a short story for our upcoming anthology, Paramourtal. So far, we love what we see. Choosing the best eight definitely will be a challenge.
As soon as we make our decision, we will notify each of you by email whether or not we accepted your story. Plus we will post the list of selected stories and authors on this site no later than Feb. 28, 2010
New Call for Submissions coming soon
If you are not included in Paramourtal, don't worry. You and every accepted author will have another chance to submit more stories in the near future.
This time, we will try something totally different. Our next anthology will be a collection of original and powerful stories featuring superheroes. But if that isn't your cup of tea, we will begin working on Paramourtal 2 right after that.

In the meantime, if you are thinking about submitting a story for either book, we suggest strongly that you review our "Writing Tips" below.
Writing Tips -- IMPORTANT
While we received some excellent submissions for Paramourtal, we had to set several aside because of common grammatical, structural and even spelling(!) mistakes. So if you are a new writer, please read the storytelling tips in our blog before writing your tale. Even if you are an experienced author, following our guidelines will increase your chance of acceptance.
Publishing Rights
Reminder: We will issue a contract to each author whose story we select for inclusion in Paramourtal. Cliffhanger Books copyrights every published work. This gives us exclusive publication rights for two years after initial publication. No author may submit their selected story to any other print, electronic or audio publishing source or allow it to appear on any other website during that time.
Payment
Each author included in Paramourtal will receive a printed and digital (PDF) copy of the book, as well as 2% of the profits of each printed and digital copy sold online or to established distributors and retailers.
Changes and Edits
Cliffhanger Books’ editors reserve the right to make the following changes or edits if necessary at our sole discretion prior to publication:
Content/Story: If we think your story requires minor changes in content, structure, style, etc. to make it stronger, we will email our suggestions to you if time permits. Then you have the option of rewriting it within an allotted time frame. If you choose not to make the necessary revisions, that may affect your acceptance in the anthology.
Grammar/Punctuation: We reserve the right to make punctuation and grammatical corrections without notifying you beforehand. If your story needs substantial revisions, we may reject it. So make sure you proofread your work closely before submitting it.
Space: We reserve the right to make minor changes without notification to ensure your story fits.
